Fraport Maryland is expanding its LaunchPad program by offering small retailers kiosks at the Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The program caters to the specific needs and challenges for small businesses looking to capitalize off of the traffic created by travelers visiting BWI Airport, which totaled over 25.1 Million in 2016.
In 2017, Launch Pad welcomed its first cadre of small businesses to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport to begin their quest for expansion with products ranging from accessories, hair and beauty products to herbal teas and women’s fashions.
Several of the initial Launch Pad Entrepreneurs are entering a second year at BWI and their success has fueled the expansion of the program. In 2018, two (2) or more businesses will be invited to participate in this unique opportunity within one of the region's most dynamic retail environments.

PASSENGERS VISITED BWI IN 2016
The LaunchPad program, developed by Fraport Maryland and The Maryland Aviation Administration, was designed for very small “backyard businesses”, as a way to give Maryland microbusinesses an immediate regional audience in BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Selected retailers for the Launch Pad program receive 12-Month leases for a kiosk along one of the airports busiest concourses.
Support and guidance is provided to participants through the Greater Baltimore Urban League’s Entrepreneurial Program funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce (EDA) and the Abell Foundation with support from Fraport.
A variety of business related services and resources are offered such as accounting, pricing, branding, and promotion to help in achieving success at BWI Thurgood Marshall.
